2nd Annual American Wounded Heroes Golf Classic a Huge Success!

The 2nd Annual American Wounded Heroes Golf Classic which was held at the Westin La Cantera Resort on 17 August 2009 and was a huge success!  We had over 215 golfers and over 400 people attended which included sponsors, guest, veterans, volunteers, and twenty four (24) American Wounded Heroes who actually participated in this year's Golf Classic.

We had over 5 media groups show up for the event which included the Express News to WOAI, KENS 5 and other outlets which will help us spread the awareness of our American Wounded Heroes and their families!  Proceeds from this year's Golf Classic will benefit the following 501(C)(3) Military Support Organizations: The Wounded Warrior Family Support Center (WFSC), The Texas Disabled Veterans Association (TDVA), and the Catholic Charities, Military Family Relief Project.  Special guests and distinguished speakers were Major General Patrick Brady, United States Army Retired and a Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and the Honorable Congressman Ciro Rodriguez.  A special gift was presented to Ester and John Geffre in honor of their son Staff Sergeant Jeremiah Javier Geffre.

The Golf Committee Chair JD Damian, and Co-Chair Chickie Backhaus extended a well deserved salute of gratitude to all who participated in this highly successful 2nd Annual Golf Classic from our patriotic committee, sponsors, guest, dedicated volunteers and most importantly our American Wounded Heroes.   "Freedom is NOT Free"!
